Engineering in Ireland has been boosted with the news that PM Group, the Irish-owned international project management and engineering firm, is set to create 250 new jobs.

The recruitment drive will see PM Group’s global workforce rise to over 2,000 staff for the first time in its 40-year history. Consultants, graduates, experienced engineers, construction managers, project managers and architects are all being sought.

Some 100 of these new positions will be based at the company’s Irish operations in Dublin and Cork. Already, the group has taken on 50 of its intended target to work at its offices in Dublin and Cork and another 50 will join before the end of this year. The other 150 positions will be filled at its overseas operations in Britain, the US, Asia and mainland Europe.

“We’re looking to fill new positions in the pharmaceutical, food, medical technology and ICT sectors and we’ve roles for experienced professionals and graduates across a range of disciplines,” PM Group chief executive Dave Murphy said.

“Our growth over the past few years, despite the difficult conditions in the construction industry generally, highlights that there are jobs and opportunities in providing highly skilled services to the high tech sectors, both here and internationally.”

Jobs and Enterprise Minister Richard Bruton said the jobs announcement provides “a great example” of how firms in the engineering and construction space can still grow employment by targeting the high-tech sector.

“A central part of the Government’s Action Plan for Jobs is developing policies that can support increased employment in the construction sector, and in the most recent CSO figures we saw that employment is once again growing in this key part of the economy. The announcement is another step toward achieving our objective of creating a sustainable, jobs-rich economy based on enterprise, innovation and exports,” Bruton added.

PM Group already employs over 1,000 people in Ireland and its client list includes large blue-chip multinational clients such as Abbott, Boston Scientific, GSK, Glanbia, Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson and Novartis.

Those interested in joining PM Group can apply for the new positions online.
