The Engineers Ireland CPD Accredited Employer Standard is a strategic framework which enables engineers and engineering employers raise competency levels and deliver tangible business benefits by investing in engineers through continuing professional development.
Successfully benchmarked against the rigorous standard on all aspects of their CPD policies
Employing more than 200 engineers and 80 technicians, Cork County Council and Cork National Roads Office were successfully benchmarked against the rigorous standard on all aspects of their CPD policies and processes and now retain their membership of a network of leading organisations, indigenous and multinational, which is wholly committed to the continuing professional development of staff.
At the parchment presentation in Cork County Council’s headquarters, Caroline Spillane, director general of Engineers Ireland, congratulated both organisations on retaining the accredited standard and said: “Investment in professional development is essential for organisations to grow and develop their people to achieve both organisational and individual objectives.
“It is clear that the senior management team in both Cork County Council and Cork National Roads Office has a strong commitment to employee development and will benefit from the strategic approach facilitated by the CPD Accredited Employer Standard.”
Tim Lucey, chief executive of Cork County Council, said: “We are delighted to retain the prestigious Engineers Ireland Continuing Professional Development standard, the highest achievable award for the council and the National Roads Office.
“Retaining this accreditation is a strong endorsement of our commitment to continuing professional development. CPD enables us to continuously improve our processes to achieve our business objectives and prepare ourselves for future challenges.”
