SNC-Lavalin’s Atkins business has announced that Justin Norman has been appointed as managing director of the Irish business with effect from June 1, 2018.
Norman has been part of SNC-Lavalin’s Atkins business for more than 15 years and has progressed through the company from design engineer to chartered engineer to project manager and project director. He took charge of the engineering division in Ireland in 2007 and, in 2009, took over the management of the engineering water and environment division.
Led infrastructure team
Norman completed an MBA course in 2017 while working full time and in January 2018, he was tasked with leading the new infrastructure team within the Ireland market. Tom O’Malley, his predecessor, retired at the end of May 2018.
Norman said: “On behalf of the business, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Tom for his commitment over the years and wish him the very best for his retirement. He has been an inspirational leader and fantastic mentor to me personally.
“I am delighted to be appointed as the managing director for Atkins and I look forward to leading the business into the future. I’ve had the privilege of working for Atkins for 15 years and appreciate our culture, value and people. I look forward to working with the team to take advantage of new opportunities that will strengthen our footprint and positioning in Ireland.”
Growing multidisciplinary business in Ireland
Over the last three months, O’Malley has been working closely with Norman to ensure that the transition is smooth and that the growing multidisciplinary business in Ireland can continue to focus on delivering the right outcomes for clients without interruption. Atkins’ public and private sector clients include TII, Ervia, OPW, Eirgrid, Ryanair, and Dublin Port Company among others.
O’Malley said: “I would like to congratulate Justin as he prepares to lead the Ireland business, and wish him well in his new role.
“During the past 15 years, Justin has also demonstrated strong leadership qualities and I’m really pleased we’ve been able to support his development into this exciting new chapter in his career. I am very happy to be retiring and handing over the business to a safe pair of hands.
“The Atkins business is in a very strong position and under Justin’s leadership the business future looks very bright.”http://www.engineersjournal.ie/2018/06/25/justin-norman-appointed-managing-director-atkins-ireland/http://www.engineersjournal.ie/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/a-atk-567x1024.jpghttp://www.engineersjournal.ie/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/a-atk-300x300.jpgNewsAtkins,EirGrid,OPW
