Over 90 members of Engineers Ireland received registered professional titles at a conferring ceremony in the Radisson Blu Hotel, Stillorgan on Friday, 7 April.

The conferring of parchments at the evening celebration confirmed the successful demonstration of each members’ engineering formation and their competence to practice professionally as assessed by their peers in the professional review process of Engineers Ireland.

Commenting at the conferring ceremony, Dermot Byrne, President of Engineers Ireland said: “I would like to congratulate all of you who have been conferred with parchments in respect of your registered professional titles of Fellow, Chartered Engineer and Associate Engineer.”

“The number of individuals who achieved professional titles this evening is indicative of the increasing requirement for accountability in the engineering profession. Engineers Ireland continuously works to raise the profile of engineers in Ireland and their significant contribution to society.”

At the evening celebration, the President of Engineers Ireland also had the privilege of issuing a Presidential Invitation to become a Fellow of Engineers Ireland to engineers who have distinguished themselves in their profession and in society. The recipients of this invitation included:

• Maurice Buckley, CEO, OPW
• Anne Graham, CEO, National Transport Authority
• Ronan Harris, Managing Director, Google UK
• Seán Lenihan, Senior Executive Officer in the Social Development Directorate of Clare County Council
• Michael Loughnane, Manager, Senior Leadership Development, ESB
• Michael Mc Nicholas, Group CEO, Ervia
• Jeremiah O’Sullivan, Deputy Chief Executive, ESB
• Fintan Slye, Chief Executive of the EirGrid Group
