Excitement is gearing up for Engineers Week 2017 (4-10 March), the annual campaign to inspire the next generation of engineers. From Saturday 4 March, engineers from all over Ireland will engage with their communities to showcase their profession to primary and secondary students in their locality, highlighting the amazing ways Irish engineers are pushing the limits of ingenuity, creativity and innovation.
To celebrate the launch of Engineers Week, the Engineers Ireland STEPS programme – a strategic partner of Science Foundation Ireland’s (SFI) Smart Futures programme – is offering readers of EngineersJournal.ie the chance to win a Family Pass (four tickets) to the exclusive premiere screening of Dream Big: Engineering our World in the Odeon Cinema, Point Village, Dublin on Saturday, 4 March.
The 45-minute giant-screen film about engineering will take viewers on a journey of discovery from the world’s tallest building to a bridge higher than the clouds to witness how today’s engineers are shaping the world of tomorrow.
Narrated by Academy Award winner Jeff Bridges, Dream Big is a first-of-its-kind film for giant screen theatres that aims to transform how people think about engineering. From the Great Wall of China and the world’s tallest buildings, to underwater robots, solar cars and smart, sustainable cities, Dream Big celebrates the human ingenuity behind engineering marvels big and small, and reveals the heart that drives engineers to create better lives for people around the world.
The family movie is best suited for ages 6+. The event is invite only.
