Ronan Deasy has been appointed as managing director for Shell E&P Ireland Limited, with effect from 1 February 2015. Originally from Cork, Deasy is a graduate of University College Cork and subsequently took his master’s in petroleum geology at Aberdeen University in the UK.

Since joining Shell in 1990, he has held a variety of roles in the Netherlands, Gabon, Australia, China and Dubai. Most recently, Deasy was based in Moscow, where he led Shell’s upstream commercial activities in Central Asia.

Ronan’s predecessor Michael Crothers has relocated to Calgary in Canada having assumed a senior leadership role within Shell’s North America division. A chemical engineer by background, Crothers has worked for Shell for over 27 years and was managing director of Shell E&P Ireland Ltd from 2011 to 2015.
